K-2 students who are capable of reading books on the 3-4 Booklist can complete the 3-4 Challenge. Their Challenge level needs to be changed to a higher level so that students are only required to read 20 books rather than 30 on the K-2 Challenge.
Students can make this change by completing the following steps:
- log on to the main PRC site (https://online.education.nsw.gov.au/prc/home.html)
- go to Student Reading Record
- Select the "My information" tab
- click on the Challenge level, and change this to 3-4
- click "update"
Coordinators can make this change by completing the following steps:
- log on to the main PRC site (https://online.education.nsw.gov.au/prc/home.html)
- go to Student Reading Records, and search for the student who requires adjustment
- Select the "Challenge Information" tab
- If the student does not have a current year Student Reading Record, click "Add" at the bottom of their Challenge information.
- click on the Challenge level, and change this to 3-4
- click "update"
Please note: when changing a record to from the K-2 challenge to 3-4, any books from the K-2 booklist on the student's SRR will automatically become Choice Books. If this change causes a student to have more than 10 normal choice books, the additional choice books will need to be removed in order to allow this change to be made.
Students on the 3-4 and 5-6 Challenges do not need their Challenge levels updated in order to read from higher booklists, as the number of books required for these challenge levels is the same.
If you experience any difficulties with this process, please contact the PRC team, with the student's name, grade and school.
