Students with special needs can complete the 3-10 Challenge.

Please contact the PRC Team by July 31 with the name and grade for any students with special needs, and we will ensure that their Challenge level is adjusted to the 3-10 Challenge.

The 3-10 Challenge level allows students with special needs to complete the Challenge by reading 20 books from any Challenge level (including K-2).

Students who are set with the 3-10 Challenge Level are able to:

  • Read the K-2 Challenge level and they are able to read, share-read or be read to in their home language for all PRC and Personal Choice books.
  • Read the 3-4, 5-6, and 7-9 Challenge levels and they are able to:
    • read Personal Choice books in their home language.
    • listen to an unabridged audio version of PRC and Personal Choice books while reading along with the book.

Students can receive the same support to access PRC books as they receive to access Stage-level books at school. This includes Braille, enlarged print, audio books (all unabridged), partner reading and assistance from teachers' aides.

Teachers and parents are encouraged to find strategies to support students with learning difficulties to read books that are appropriate to their maturity level and interests from their correct Challenge level.
