We understand that due to lockdown, some schools may have difficulty accessing hard copies of reading logs that are kept on-site at schools. In this case, we recommend entering a proxy virtual reading log for students who have completed the challenge, including the 10 allowable choice books (see below) plus a other books as required.

You may use your professional judgement to decide which books are appropriate to be entered on an SRR for students. Some suggestions include:

  • National Simultaneous Storytime title
  • Books that have been a part of shared storytimes/ classroom activities throughout the year
  • Books shared with students online as part of learning from home activities

As long as you are sure that students have read the required amount of books for their challenge requirements, it may be easier to enter their SRRs this way rather than waiting to access their individual reading logs. If preferred, you can enter individual student reading logs once you return to school, however these will need to be done via the post-challenge validation application process. during which records need to be entered individually and cannot be entered via the bulk virtual reading record entry process.

You can use the following PRCIDs to enter choice books to student records as part of a bulk/ virtual student reading record entry.
